Alicante Airport is the airport of choice for most visitors to Santa Pola. It is located less than 15 minutes drive from Santa Pola and easily reached via the N-332. Depending on where you are flying from, it may be more convenient to use Murcia-San Javier Airport which is 50 minutes drive to the south. Alicante Airport is bright and modern and after a new terminal area was opened in 2011, airport handling has increased by around 20 million passengers per year.
Alicante Airport Services
Entering the airport, passengers will find comfortable seating areas and modern clean ablutions located in the public and passenger only zones. Ablutions include baby changing and lactation rooms. Both public and passenger only zones have information desks. Here you can also enquire about lost luggage and personal items, and there is a baggage wrapping machine available. Once through passport control, the passenger only zones includes an outdoor bar and terrace area. This is most unusual for an international airport, but a big bonus in summer and for smokers.
Passengers with reduced mobility can request the airport's support service. This service needs to be requested online at least 48 hours in advance, and there is a 24hr helpline. First aid including defibrillators are on hand 24hrs and police and security maintain regular patrols. Young ones can have fun in the children's play area and there are free WiFi zones and meeting rooms. Currency exchange, ATM machines and vending machines complete Alicante Airport's excellent services.
Alicante Airport Restaurants
Bars, cafes, takeaways and restaurants are located in both the public and passenger only zones. There is less of a choice in the terminal's public areas but still something to suit most tastes. These include favourites such as Costa Coffee and Burger King. Then you have ARS-Rodilla Sandwich Bar, Saboramar Gastro Bar, Kiosco Farggi and a further coffee shop called Caffriccio.
After going through passport control passengers can enjoy drinks and a good social scene at the Carlsberg Bar. Cañas & Tapas is great for a drink and snack, as is deCanto. Both Burger King and Subway have outlets, and for your coffee fix, head to Starbucks or Il Caffé di Roma. Those with more of a sweet tooth will enjoy Valor, and sit down meals are available at the Air Food Court.
Alicante Airport Shops
Shops and duty free are well represented in the passenger only zones. These includes popular outlets such as Superskunk, Sunglass Hut, Swarovski, Victoria's Secret and WHSmith. For a bit of everything delicatessen, have a browse around Petra Mora. For children's favourites head to LOL Kids and LOL Sweets, and there are two duty free shops as well as an express duty free. In the public areas of the terminal visitors will find a range of products and consumables at The Market. There is also a pharmacy, and just outside the terminal doors is a handy tobacconist.
