Murcia-San Javier Airport

Murcia-San Javier Airport is one of two that service Santa Pola and the rest of Costa Blanca. The airport lies around 50 minutes drive south from Santa Pola and is easily reached via the AP-7 and N-332. This is a fantastic airport to arrive and depart from, and the minute you step off the plane the short walk to the terminal lets you know you are in Spain. The laid back feel continues at passport control. This is a breeze and usually takes less than 20 minutes before you are walking out the terminal doors, where you are greeted with a charming outdoor bar and sun terrace.

Murcia-San Javier Airport Services

Although not a large airport, it has all the services one would expect. Comfortable seating areas and modern clean ablutions are located in the public and passenger only zones. There are free WiFi zones and ATM machines. At the information points there are lost luggage and lost and found facilities. Passengers with reduced mobility can request the airport's support service. This service needs to be requested online at least 48 hours in advance, and there is a 24 hour helpline.

These include a Subway takeaway, Ibérico Gourmet Shop and the family favourite Gelattos & Mojitos. Passengers can browse the Duty Free Shop for goodies to take home. ALB Jewellery & Accessories also offers a small selection of clothing, and further clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories can be found at the popular Marga Shoes.

Murcia-San Javier Airport Transport

Parking –  When arriving at Murcia-San Javier Airport there are two parking ticket boom gates. To the side of these is a separate lane for those just dropping off or picking up passengers. This is handy and free of charge but drivers should not leave their vehicle unattended or stay too long. For those spending any time at the airport, the parking is right outside the terminal and prices are very reasonable. Discounted prices are offered for long term parking when booking online.

Car Hire – Within the terminal it is possible to arrange car hire from several rental companies. These include Goldcar Rental, Europcar and Firefly. Car hire is available on arrival. However, in the peak summer months it is highly recommended to book your car hire in advance. You may also see a few representatives from independent car hire companies scouting for business. These may offer competitive prices but vehicles, all paperwork and insurances should be thoroughly checked before signing your rental agreement. Santa Pola Insider recommend Coys Rent-A-Car.

Buses & Taxis – There are no buses whatsoever operating from Murcia-San Javier Airport. The official taxis used by the airport are Santiago de la Ribera Taxis. They charge a supplement for airport pickups as well as a small supplement for luggage. All taxis use a meter. Passengers are free to use whatever taxi company they choose. By using the official airport taxis it is a lot easier to assist passengers should luggage or personal items be lost or misplaced during transit.
